What Is Lip Blushing?
Lip blushing is a type of semi-permanent lip tattoo that is placed on the lips to give them a more flushed, natural-looking color. The end result of a lip tattoo is to give you a natural looking lip. This type of tattoo can be done in one session and usually lasts for about three to five years. However, the color will fade over time and need to be touched up every few years.
Lip blushing can be an alternative for people who are looking for a more permanent solution to their lip color needs than traditional lipstick or lip gloss. It can also be a good option for people with allergies to makeup or those who have difficulty applying lipstick evenly. If you have lips that are uneven, or have hyperpigmentation lip blushing could be a great choice for you.

LIP BLUSHING TOUCH-UP
6-8 Weeks after Initial Lip Blushing appointment. Once your lips are fully healed, you may want the artist to touch up the color or shape. Also increases the length of time your color lasts.
A Touch-Up is not always required. We ask that you still come in so that we can take photos and assess the work.

DOES LIP BLUSHING HURT?
No, it does not hurt. Many clients fall asleep in the chair!
HOW LONG WILL LIP BLUSHING LAST?
Typically 1-3 years. However, everyone is different and some will notice fading sooner.
WHAT IF I'VE HAD LIP BLUSHING OR PERMANENT MAKEUP ON MY LIPS BEFORE?
HOW LONG IS THE LIP BLUSHING APPOINTMENT?
Plan on the initial Lip Blushing service lasting approximately 2.5 hours. It will also depend on your individual needs.
DO I HAVE TO GET A TOUCH UP DONE ON AFTER THE INITIAL LIP BLUSHING SERVICE?
No. Most Lip Blushing clients do not require a Touch Up. However, if you are a lip-biter or have scar tissue, you may need it. Effortless Arches would still like to see you at 6-8 weeks in order to check your healed results and to take photos.
HOW LONG DOES LIP BLUSHING TAKE TO HEAL AND WHAT IS THE AFTERCARE?
Lip Blushing is considered to be fully healed in 4 weeks. The initial color will be darker than the fully healed result. However, there is virtually no downtime due to our Lead Artist, Leanne Venter’s unique no-swelling technique. You will receive an ointment to use for the first two weeks. While touch ups are not usually required, we ask that you come back to the Medspa 6-8 weeks after your appointment to check your results and take photos.
IS LIP BLUSHING THE SAME AS A REGULAR TATTOO?
Yes and no. All permanent makeup is a type of tattoo. The difference between PMU and regular tattoos is the technique and tools used. The PMU pigment is not applied as deeply into the skin as a regular tattoo and therefore does not last a lifetime like a regular tattoo.
CAN LIP BLUSHING BE PERFORMED ON ALL SKIN TYPES AND COLORS?
Yes. For melanin-rich lips, we will assess your needs and possibly perform a lip neutralizing treatment first. We will then follow-up with the Lip Blushing. Please contact us to review your options.
WHO SHOULD NOT GET LIP BLUSHING DONE?
Permanent Makeup procedures like Powder Brows and Lip Blushing are NOT recommended for clients who are or have any one of the following:
- Pregnant or Nursing
- Diabetic
- Undergoing Chemotherapy (Consult with your Doctor.)
- Viral Infections and Diseases
- Have had Botox or similar products) within a 3 week period of PMU appointment
- Had an organ transplant
- Epilepsy
- Sick with cold or flu virus
- Used Accutane in the past 6 months
