Botox Lip Flip

Botox is a neuromodulator that temporarily relaxes the muscles in the treated area. This action reduces the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. Botox is most commonly used to treat forehead wrinkles, crow’s feet, and frown lines between the eyebrows. It is also used as lip fillers to add volume and definition to the lips.

What Is A Botox Lip Flip?

A Botox lip flip is a non-surgical cosmetic procedure that can give you fuller, plumper lips without the use of injectable fillers. The procedure involves injecting botulinum toxin into the muscles around the lips. This relaxes the muscles and causes them to flip outwards, giving the appearance of fuller lips.

How Does Botox Lip Flip Work?

Botox Lip Flip Treatment Areas

Botox lip flip works by relaxing the facial muscles around the lips and is injected into the top lip. This causes the lips to flip outwards and appear fuller. The botulinum toxin works by blocking the nerve signals that cause muscle contraction. This leads to temporary muscle paralysis and prevents the muscles from contracting.

The areas you can get Botox to enhance your lips include:

  • Cupid’s Bow
  • Top Lip
  • Lower Lip
  • Corners of your mouth
  • Orbicularis Oris Muscle (the upper lip muscle that surrounds your entire mouth)

Why Should You Get Botox Lip Flip?

You might be a good candidate for Botox lip flip if you are someone who has thin lips, want to enhance your lip shape, or if you have a gummy smile. Botox can also be used to treat smoker’s lines around the mouth.

How To Prepare For Botox Lip Flip?

You should avoid taking blood thinners such as aspirin or ibuprofen, drinking alcohol, or eating grapefruit at least a week before your procedure.

You should also avoid exposure to the sun or UV rays for at least a week before the procedure.

At your Botox procedure your Physician’s Assistant, Injector or Plastic Surgeon will go over your medical history before anything is done to make sure you are an ideal candidate for Botox treatment.

Next they will go over your desired lip flip results and explain all the treatment areas they will inject and how much botox will be needed to complete the cosmetic procedure. This will be done by drawing lines on your lips with a pen to show you where the botox will be injected.

Once you are ready and have given your consent, the Botox lip flip procedure will begin.

You may feel a little discomfort during the Botox injection process as the needles used are very thin. However, this feeling is temporary and should go away shortly. A dental block can be used so there is virtually no pain.

The entire lip flip procedure usually takes about 15-20 minutes to complete.

    – Avoid drinking alcohol for at least 24 hours after the procedure.

    – Avoid wearing lipstick or lip gloss for at least 12 hours after the procedure.

    • After a Neuromodulator injection, your Physicians Assistant will advise you on aftercare. You should avoid any exercise for at least 3 hours after treatment.
    • You can try frowning and raising your eyebrows about an hour after your treatment. These facial exercises aren’t necessary, but they may lead to better results.
    • Don’t get a facial or head massage for a full 24 hours after a Neuromodulator injection. You should also avoid rubbing your face in the area that was treated.
    • Don’t lie down for at least 3 hours after receiving a Neuromodulator injection.
    • Don’t go into any saunas, hot tubs, or tanning booths for at least 4 hours. This helps to prevent bruising, because heat can raise your blood pressure.
    • Otherwise, you can resume your regular activities right after getting a Neuromodulator injection.
    • A Neuromodulator injection starts to take effect about 3 days after the injection. The full effect happens about 2 weeks after injections.

    • Once it wears off, you will have to get more Neuromodulator injections to get the same results.

You should be able to resume your normal daily activities immediately after the procedure.
