The lip blush procedure usually starts with a consultation, getting to take a look at the clients lips in person, asking them questions about their ideal needs and wants are.

The most asked question you will get asked a lip blushing artist is what color should they get?

Some will come in with their favorite lipstick color for you to match while others will ask for your opinion. You can learn more about lip tattoo colors here.

Once they have decided on their ideal color, you will have them fill out a consent form and go over their medical history. Not everyone is able to get lip blushing so in your lip blushing training course they will go over who are not candidates for lip blushing.

The first thing you will do in starting the lip blush procedure is to draw an outline. This outline will give you the ideal shape that you can show to the client and help you stay within the lip lines. You don’t want to tattoo on the skin, just the lips.

Once the outline is approved, you will begin the shading process with your permanent makeup machine. Several passes will be needed, and in your training, you will learn exactly how to shade and how to avoid swelling and bruising.

The procedure is not painful at all and should take about an hour or two depending on the look you are going for. After the procedure, the lips will feel a bit swollen and tender so it’s important to have your client follow their aftercare instructions.

Let the lips go through their healing stages, which will include a bright color to begin with, then the color will fade, then the lips will scab and fall off, and finally a subtle color will appear.
