The main goal after botox care is to achieve the best results. We also want to have the healing process of quick and easy as possible and avoid swelling, bruising and spreading to other areas.

On Botox Treatment Day you should:

  • Leave the treated area alone
  • Avoid touching or rubbing the treated area
  • Relax for the rest of the day
  • Exercise your face gently with facial exercises like smiling, frowning and raising your eyebrows
  • Sleep with your head elevated

There is no recovery time so you can resume right after the treatment.

What Should You Do After Botox?

You should wait at least 24 hours to work out. When you work out it increases blood flow which could potentially spread the toxin into other areas and increase bruising.

Go without makeup for 24 hours as you don’t want to rub the skin and spread out the toxin.

Sit up for the first 4 hours after Botox treatment. If you lay down you might spread it.

Ask your doctor or Nurse Practitioner about your medications. Some medications might put you at risk so it’s best to ask what is safe to take.

    What Not To Do After Botox

    • First and foremost, it’s important to avoid rubbing or massaging the injection site. This can cause the Botox to spread to other muscles and create a “frozen” appearance.
    • Avoid skin treatments like facials, dermal fillers and exfoliating.
    • It’s also important to avoid exposure to heat, so saunas, steam rooms, and hot tubs should be off-limits for at least 24 hours.
    • You should also avoid lying down for four hours after the injection to prevent the Botox from migrating.
    • And lastly, it’s important to avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours as it can thin your blood and increase bruising and swelling.

    What Are The Side Effects and Risks To Botox?

    It is typical to have swelling, tenderness or redness after getting Botox. These symptoms will typically go away after a day or two.

    Bruising is also common and will go away within 2 weeks. You can use an ice pack to help with relief.
